What is PUBG Mobile?
Simply put, PUBG, pronounced as pub-G or Pub-Gee by those who play it, is a game; more specifically, a multiplayer shooter. That said, it’s not just any multiplayer shooter. This critically acclaimed mobile game has won awards and is ranked among some of the best games ever to be released according to sources.
What does PUBG Stand For?
PUBG is short for Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds and is a game that is loosely affiliated with a gaming company based in South Korea that goes by the name of Bluehole.
Why is PUBG So Famous?
There are a lot of factors that have resulted in the fame and popularity amassed by PUBG Mobile. According to one article published by the Medium, these include gameplay, marketing, versatility, and server abilities among others that contributed to this. Apart from the aforementioned, the presence of hundreds of online users, multiplayer capabilities, and options relating to weapons and other such particulars is what makes this game a fan favorite.
Finally, from personal experience, we feel one of the greatest things about the game is the general feel of it all. You’ve got a landscape and gameplay that reminds one of DayZ, a real-time survivor game offering a whole lot by way of maps, outfits, weapons, vehicles, props, and in-game features.
Funny enough, according to sources, both pubG and DayZ were initially spawned out of mods for ARMA 3 and 2 respectively. ARMA 2 and ARMA 3 were both open map/world, military-tactical shooters with realistic gameplay features. Though the publishing and developing company Bohemia Interactive proceeded to build on DayZ as a full-on project, PUBG creator, Brendan Greene, was approached by Bluehole for the development of his game.
In a sense, between the primary battle royal gameplay option and the blending of survival, tactical, and military shooter features playing PUBG makes for a thrilling and dare we say addictive experience!
PUBG Vs Call of Duty Mobile
Of course, we weren’t going to jump to the new PUBG 0.15.0 update without addressing the elephant in the room first. You’ve got blogs dedicated to the subject of whether pubG or CoD Mobile offers a better gaming experience.

Needless to say, the update was well received by users which brings us to the star of our blog, the new or upcoming PUBG 0.15.0 update.
What is the New PUBG Update?
The new PBBG update, more accurately, the PUBG 0.15.0 update was rolled out on October the 16th 2019. As expected, the update came with a range of new features that we’re going to review. Among the features of the new PUBG Mobile 0.15.0 update are:
- Deployment of new weapons
- Improvements to existing weapons
- Mobility enhancements
- Map/item interaction
- A new game mode option
We’re now going to elaborate on each of these.
Deployment of New Weapons
As with the previous PUBG update, the new 0.15.0 update brings with it a range of new weapon options. Though most of these are part of what is called ‘Payload Mode’, one new weapon introduction accessible within the regular gameplay mode is that of the Deagle (aka the Desert Eagle). As far as the game is concerned, the selling point for this weapon is that it will be the dominant handgun available to players.
Here are some Deagle specs that you might find interesting:
- 62 Pts Damage
- Superior Muzzle Velocity
- Red dot and sight compatibility
- Type-0.45 ACP Ammunition
- Basic Mag Capacity: 7 rounds
- Ext Mag Capacity: 10 rounds
Apart From this, PUBG Payload Mode weapon options include:
- M3E1-A (recoil-free and grenade capable)
- RPG 7
- MGL Grenade Launcher
- Sawed-Off

Improvements to Existing Weapons
Developers working on PUBG also introduced a few noteworthy improvements or changes to existing weapons within the player arsenal. Here are the weapon upgrades we clocked that came with the PUBG 0.15.0 update.
M16-A4 Upgrade
Upgrades on the M16-A4 include reduction of recoil which allows for enhanced long-range shooting. This rifle is not also tactical-stock compatible.
Vector Upgrade
Due to a shift in ammunition from 0.45-ACP rounds to 9mm, the Vector has suffered a slight loss in base damage – more specifically, three points less than the original 34 pts. Apart from this, magazine capacity for this firearm has been increased to 19/33.
UMP-9 Upgrade
The UMP-9 has gone through a name change and will now be referred to as the UMP-45. As the name change suggests, the firearm will now use 0.45-ACP rounds as opposed to the previously used 9mm. The sound made by the firearm when in use has also been altered as has the magazine capacity and muzzle velocity.
MK47-Mutant Upgrade
A minute upgrade made to this firearm is tactical stock compatibility.
Mobility Enhancements
When it comes to mobility, new features introduced by the PUBG 0.15.0 update include the ability to grab ledges via a double jump motion as well as other actions such as climbing. In other words, more map access!
Map/Item Interaction Changes
In the area of map interaction, those once benign fuel canisters that you would find lying around all over the place could become problematic – or advantageous depending on where you’re standing. These fuel canisters are now going to be volatile which means interaction with bullets could set them off resulting in explosions that could deal serious damage to players in the vicinity.
On the other hand, players will also be able to make use of items such as food packs and health kits to heal themselves.
New Game Mode Option: PUBG Payload Mode
The three things that the new game mode option, better known as Payload Mode has to offer include:
- New weapons (already discussed)
- New gameplay specifics
- New vehicles
When it comes to gameplay, the introduction of individual player IDs and respawn abilities due to the introduction of respawn-towers to the map are among the most noteworthy changes. This is interesting as the ability to respawn in this manner was not offered in previous versions of PUBG.
Apart from this, the introduction of helicopters and amphibious vehicles has got a lot of players pretty psyched. Helicopters have made airstrikes possible and armored amphibious vehicles allow players a chance to lay low if things get too heated! Further, vehicle repair kits let players undo the damage done to vehicles that they may be comfortable using and do not want to abandon.
